The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is a midsize electric crossover that will offer sharp styling and a modern cabin, with a driving range of more than 300 miles. It will be Cadillac’s first luxury, electric vehicle. The brand-new 2021 Wrangler 4xe is the first-ever plug-in Wrangler. It mixes a battery, electric motor, and turbocharged gasoline engine to deliver a great performance and fuel efficiency.
The new Cadillac Lyriq will feature seating for five and a center console that divides the two front seats and a bench rear seat with a touchscreen for the rear seat passengers. The cabin is spacious for passengers to be comfortable, with plenty of legroom. The Lyriq has new vertical signature lighting and a transparent crystal black pseudo grille motif with pinstriping and the Cadillac crest that lights up. There will be four choices of trims: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and Platinum, with a starting price of $59,995 for the Luxury that ranges to an estimated $90,000 for the Platinum.
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is available with the same design as Wrangler’s other models. You can choose between two-door and four-door body styles. Two-door models seat four, and four-door models seat five. The two-door offers 12.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 31.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down, while the four-door offers 31.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 72.4 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Its entire interior is durable and water-resistant, making it easy to clean and last longer, but some rivals offer a more luxurious cabin. Removable top and doors provide a capable off-road experience. It comes standard with a soft-top roof that is easy to remove and fold onto the rear tailgate; a hardtop is also available. There are three 4xe models: the base 4xe Sahara, with a starting price of $47,995, the 4xe Rubicon, with a starting price of $51,695, and the 4xe High Altitude, with a starting price of $53,570.
A 33.0-inch LED display with an array of colors and a 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system with headrest speakers will be in the interior of the 2023 Cadillac Lyrig. This will feature GM’s new android Automotive-based infotainment system that will display Google Play store for downloading apps, the Google Assistant and Google maps in the cluster directly in front of the driver. The Lyriq also offers available Super Cruise: GM’s highway hands-free driver-assistance technology with automated lane change capability. Key safety features will include automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, available lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and available adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode.
The Wrangler’s available safety features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. A rearview camera is standard. Its standard infotainment system is the Uconnect and comes with a 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, and a USB port. Available features include a 7- or 8.4-inch touch screen, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, additional USB ports, and navigation.
The Lyriq will come standard with an electric motor on the rear axle and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive will be optional, with a second motor added at the front. The rear-wheel drive model is said to produce 340 horsepower. Cadillac claims that the Lyriq will offer a battery with about 100-kWh worth of capacity, with a driving range of more than 300 miles per charge. DC fast charging capability will be standard, as well as using home power outlets with 19.2-kw Level 2 charging modules. With fast charging, the Lyriq can add about 76 miles of driving range in 10 minutes. The Lyrig will also have a one pedal driving mode that relies on regenerative braking for most deceleration.
The Wrangler 4xe features a plug-in hybrid with two electric motors that produce 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with its 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes with this powertrain. The hybrid battery pack that you can recharge at home or at a public charging station is mounted underneath the rear seats. Charging takes about 12 hours on a 110-volt wall outlet, or just two hours with 240 volts. This plug-in-hybrid variant is the most fuel-efficient in Wrangler’s lineup. It gets 49 MPG-equivalent in combined city/highway driving when running on electric power, and it has an all-electric range of 21 miles. It also features the performance and capability of Wrangler’s other models. It can ride in over 30 inches of water, move and crawl over rocks, and through the dirt.
